Is your company developing a reputation for having a revolving door? Are employees joining the company and then leaving almost as quickly as they joined?
If this situation is familiar, you want to bet it is or will be known in the outside world! How is it known? Well, there are many ways that this reputation develops, however, here are the two most popular reasons:
* Word of mouth from employees that work/have worked there or have known people that have worked there.
* Continual advertisement for the same positions over and over.
These items indicate to the outside world that there is a bad work environment, that there are not things in place to attract and keep employees. This is absolutely not a good reputation to have. You will be attracting all the wrong people – mainly those that can’t find a job anywhere else and just want to take your job while they look for something else.
How do you stop this trend? Well, you will need to examine why it is that people are leaving. Ask them! Do exit interviews, act on the feedback! Look for suggestions from current employees on things that would improve their work environment.
The key is to STOP the trend quickly as it takes a long time to reverse this reputation.
